Please read this page before contacting us, as it explains our adoption policies and the procedure.

  • If you are interested in one of our dogs, please e-mail us and tell us about yourself and your home situation, as well as which dog you are interested in. Please include information such as the ages of any children and your general work schedule. We ask for this information so that we can let you know if the dog you are interested in adopting will be a good match for you. We will correspond with you by email, and ask any additional questions if we have any.  Please be patient after sending us the e-mail.  We receive a high number of e-mails, and our rescue is staffed by volunteers, who have other jobs.  We will respond to your e-mail, it just may take a day to two.

  • Please include the information asked for above in your e-mail to us.  Due to the high volume of e-mails we receive and the number of volunteers we have, if the necessary information is not included, then your e-mail will be handled after the others we have recieved.  We will then send you an e-mail asking you for the above information, and the dog you are interested in may be adopted by someone else first.

  • REQUIRED POST ADOPTION HOME VISITS AND TRAINING:

Training sessions in your home will be required with all adopted dogs.  Each dog is allowed 4 training sessions with Denise John, the founder of the Rescue Group and APTD dog trainer.

We  require that 2 of these hours be used.  The sessions will be at your home, and they will be scheduled ahead of time.  Denise will contact you to discuss how the dog is doing in their new environment prior to the first session.  She will ask the owners if there are specific issues they want to address.

The first session to be used within 3 months, and the second within 6 months of adoption.  The final two can be used any time in the first year after adoption, or if the dog is doing fine, they do not have to be used.

  • At this time, we are unable to accomodate visitors to see our dogs.  All of our dogs live in homes, and we are currently unable to schedule visits to these homes to see the dogs.

  • Due to the amount of time and money involved, we are unable to bring the dogs to meet you before adoption.  If you are seriously interested in a dog, please e-mail us, and if you are a good match for the dog, we will send you an application.  After approval, we will bring the dog to you.  If the dog does not work out, you may return the dog to us.

  • Once both parties are comfortable that the match is a good one, we will then send you an adoption application for the dog you have chosen. We do screen our applicants, so please be patient once you have sent the application back to us.

  • THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR DOG ADOPTIONS

Please make sure you are ready to adopt your dog.  While we will take any of the dogs back into our rescue if you are unable to keep the dog for any reason, we do not refund the adoption fee.

  • When the dog is brought to your home, an adoption contract must be signed before we can leave the dog with you. Once again, this is for the safety of our dogs.

  • Our adoption fees vary from $100.00 to $200.00 depending on the age and breed of the dog. If you do not see an adoption fee listed with the dog you are considering, please ask for the cost in your email.
