The Story of Princess
When tiny 3.5 lb Princess was rescued, she was living in a crate in a garage with another small Chihuahua. The conditions were dirty, and both dogs needed grooming and medical care.
Soon after coming to rescue, it was clear that Princess was having issues with her bladder. She strained constantly, and there was blood in her urine. An appointment was made to see the veterinarian.
Princess had very bad teeth, and some were going to have to be removed. Upon palpating her abdomen, the veterinarian stated that he
could feel two very large bladder stones in Princess. We immediately scheduled surgery and dental.
Dr. Musgrave of Acupet Veterinary Services in Hudson performed the dental and surgery on Princess. Two very large stones were removed from her bladder. She also had 4 teeth removed during her dental procedure, which was also performed at that time.
Dr. Musgrave gave us one of the stones, and the other was sent to the lab for evaluation. In the photo, you can see how large the stone is, and poor Princess had two of them in her bladder. When we asked the Doctor how long it would take for two large stones of that size to form, he told us it most likely took years for them to get that size, and Princess had to be visibly uncomfortable for well over a year.
Despite all she has been through, Princess is a sweet and loving girl. She is approximately 10 years old, and after recovery we hope to find her a wonderful, loving forever home. The cost of her surgery was over $600.00. There was never any thought of not performing the surgery on this sweet, trusting baby. We are so happy she came through the surgery without any problems, and is feeling better every day.
